 Introduction:

According to the 73rd Constitutional Amendment, Gram Panchayats have been granted constitutional status. Various schemes are implemented by the Gram Panchayat Department, Zilla Parishad, from the Central and State Governments to improve the standard of living of the people in rural areas and for their economic and social progress. There are a total of 04 Panchayat Samitis and a total of 557 Gram Panchayats in Dhule district. The total population of Gram Panchayats is 14,79,826. The population of Scheduled Castes is 82,299 and the population of Scheduled Tribes is 6,07,824. The rural area is 7078.33 sq. km.

Goal:

 To achieve inclusive and sustainable rural development through a strong Panchayat Raj system.

Vision:

i. Empowering Panchayat Raj institutions.

ii. Strengthening Panchayat Raj institutions for planning, implementation, management and control.

iii. Synergy of programs and functions of other government departments, semi-government institutions, voluntary organizations.

iv. Social audit through Gram Sabha for collective decision making and grievance redressal.

Objectives:

i. Strengthening the Panchayat Raj system through training of people’s representatives.

ii. Providing basic amenities in the village.

iii. Providing basic tools and facilities for the development of pilgrimage sites.

iv. Effective implementation of Gram Sabha.

v. Poverty eradication through effective implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

100-Day Targets:

i. Preparation of Gram Panchayat Development Plan – Total 557 Gram Panchayats.

ii. Training of people’s representatives – 4949

iii. Establishment of Panchayat Learning Center – 03
