    Introduction:

    The objective is to create permanent productive assets by guaranteeing at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every rural household willing to work voluntarily in rural areas.

    The scheme focuses on providing employment to rural farmers/agricultural laborers through social security, empowerment of women and weaker sections and strengthening of Panchayat Raj institutions.

    Objectives:

    • The Central Government guarantees 100 days of employment per family to every adult member of a rural family.

    • The Government of Maharashtra guarantees unskilled employment for more than 100 days.

    • Every family living in rural areas is entitled to a job card.

    Every adult member of a registered family shall be provided with work within 15 days of application for work. The work shall be provided within 5 km of the place of residence of the worker. For all works undertaken by other implementing agencies, the share of skilled and semi-skilled workers shall not exceed 40% at the district level. No machinery shall be used to displace unskilled workers. In terms of expenditure, at least 60% of the works to be undertaken in the district shall be related to development of land, water and trees.

    Vision and Mission:

    While providing benefits of individual works, priority will be given to the families belonging to the following categories:

    1. Scheduled Castes

    2. Scheduled Tribes

    3. Nomadic Tribes

    4. Notified Tribes

    5. Other families below poverty line

    6. Female headed family

    7. Physically challenged headed family

    8. Beneficiaries of land reforms

    9. Beneficiaries availing benefits under IAY / PMAY

    After all the above beneficiaries are exhausted, at least one member of the family must be willing to work on the work undertaken by the beneficiary on their land or house premises as defined in the Agricultural Loan Waiver on the lands of small or marginal farmers and on the basis of the condition of 10 Loan Waiver Scheme, 2008.

    Category A: Public works related to natural resource management

    Category B: Individual capacity for weaker sections (only for families mentioned   in paragraph 4)

    Category C: Common infrastructure for self-help groups under National Rural Livelihood Mission

    Category D: Rural infrastructure
